The following information is used in applying for grants and in allocating federal funding for educational institutions through the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Public Law 115-224). This information has no impact on college/program admissions or scheduling decisions and will be kept strictly confidential.
Any individual who
- is unmarried or legally separated from a spouse; and
- has minor child or children for which the parent has either custody or joint custody.
- This definition includes single pregnant women.
"Armed forces" includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard (it does not include the National Guard).
"Active duty" means full - time duty in a military branch of the United States, including full - time training, annual training, and attendance at a service academy(it does not include full - time National Guard duty).
This question includes individuals and youths who:
- Are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, etc.; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations; are living in emergency or transitional shelters; or are abandoned in hospitals;
- Have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation;
- Are living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings; and
- Are migratory children(as defined in 20 U.S.C. 6399) who are living in circumstances described in (1) through(3) above.
This includes parents whose youngest dependent child will become ineligible to receive assistance under part A of title IV of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 601 et. seq.) within 2 years after the parent applying for such assistance.
